The Launch of The Slate Collection

After a couple of weeks of solid working (whilst simultaneously keeping on top of our lectures and assignments), we are all very proud to announce… We’ve done it! We published The Slate Collection!

Here’s a look at us all with the final result:

(L-R) Peter Xu, Rhian Phillips, Katherine Barnes, Sarah Zerbach, Reba Sutton, Amy Williams, Sophie Tibbs

Unfortunately, we couldn’t be joined by Sarah Murray, who also played an instrumental role in the editing and production of The Slate Collection.

And so, with snacks and free wine on the table, a lot of borrowed chairs, and a room full of eager guests, we presented our work to the world! Each contributor read out one piece of their writing.

A stack of our publication was taken to be given out at our local Nero branch, so if you’re in the vicinity of Bangor, please do pop in and grab a copy.

Anyway, here’s a few snaps of the evening’s events, courtesy of Bangor University English Department’s Twitter:

And of course, the evening isn’t complete without a little audience participation!

Stay tuned, because starting next week, we’ll be posing one piece of work here every week.

First blog post

We are a group of enthusiastic MA and MArts students at Bangor University. We have elected to create a collection of our work to put out into a public space.

Tonight (04/05/17), we will be launching Slate, a collaboration of our creative works, in the Conran Room of Bangor University. We will be giving out physical copies of the publication, and each of the writers are encouraged to read one piece of their choosing.

I (Reba) will then upload one of the creative pieces from the collection on this site every week.
